What I’m Reading and Other News November 2023

Hi Reading Friend!

It’s getting wintery, my little town has put up its decorations, and family came over for Stir-up-Sunday. Those beautiful ugly medlars, well they are ripening on trays ready to be boiled up, and my golden retriever is shedding so much hair as she grows in her winter coat I have enough to stuff a couch. 90% of the food I feed her must go into fur production.

This month has been crazy, but my story for the Cozy Vales shared world anthology is finished! It’s called ‘The Alchemist’s Surprise’ and will be released as part of the anthology early December. It’s been amazing writing with the other authors in Cozy Vales. The stories in the anthology are fun, funny and like a big warm hug. The anthology will be free and available wide. As soon as it’s launched, I’ll share links.

I’ve been getting stuck into Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson. It’s not what I expected, but I’ve been enjoying it nonetheless. That’s been my only read as my spare time has been sucked into authory bits and pieces.

There’s always time for audiobooks, which is just as well because I have been listening to Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa, beautifully narrated by Brian Nishii. Clocking up at 53 hours, it’s a wonderful epic that pulls you into another time and place. The story is about Miyamoto Musashi, one of Japan’s most famous sword masters, as he picks up his life after the Battle of Sekigahara and finds out what it means to follow the way of the sword.

As I have written this my goldie has gently shed another jumpers worth of fur. I’m just off to get the hoover out again.
